Where We Race

We have 6 race weekends from early January through the end of February at resorts all around the Midwest. Most of the resorts that we race at are within a 5 hour drive from Madison.

  • Wild Mountain, MN

  • Mt. La Crosse, WI

  • Giants Ridge, MN

  • Chestnut Mountain, IL

  • Spirit Mountain, MN

  • Marquette Mountain, MI

Training

Every Tuesday and Thursday starting second semester we train at Tyrol Basin in Mt. Horeb, WI. These optional practices are a great way to dial in your skiing and get to know team members. Usually we have one practice dedicated to slalom training and one dedicated to GS each week. We leave Madison around 4:00 PM, aiming to get on the hill by 6:00 PM and then leaving around 8:30 PM. We have coaches at each practice to give you tips and to help you improve your skiing!

A Typical Race Weekend

Our races run Saturday - Sunday, with the team leaving Madison Friday afternoon and then arriving at the hotel that evening. The races are two days, with one day dedicated to two runs of slalom, and the other being dedicated to two runs of GS. After our last run and the awards ceremony on Sunday, we leave straight from the ski hill to drive back to Madison. For those looking for additional competition, we compete in skier cross at Marquette and offer the opportunity to compete in small freestyle competitions at each resort.

USCSA National Championships

Every season the top men’s and women’s teams in the region qualify to race at the USCSA National Championships. In the recent past we have traveled to Lake Placid, New York; Mt. Bachelor, Oregon; and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This is a great opportunity to be able to represent our school and our team across the country as well as meet new people and ski at new places! Team members that have gone to national championships often say it’s one of the most fun weeks of skiing they’ve ever had.
